🍹 The word "aperitif" comes from the Latin verb "aperire" meaning to open. The aperitif is therefore supposed to "open" your appetite. Beyond the food and drink, keep in mind that it is the foundation of a successful meal, during which your guests will enjoy discovering each other and conversing. Make sure to introduce your guests, so that they feel immediately at ease. Don't just name the guests, but try to evoke the qualities and interests of each one, thus creating opportunity for a discussion to start. To make appetizers easily accessible, multiply the number of small dishes (bowls, bread plates, individual spoons) and put them in different places. If in the past, the food and drink that made up the typical French aperitif could be quite monotonous, while today it is the occasion for all kinds of daring, whether in matters of cooking or cocktails making, so don't hesitate to be creative! Don't make it last more than 45 minutes though, unless it is an aperitif dinner of course!
