Moon festival

September 11, 2022 14:00

🌕 Like every year, Asia celebrates the mid-autumn festival. A time for family gathering around traditional dishes to admire the moon, particularly beautiful in this season. Vietnamese people thank the sky for the good harvest: children parade in the streets singing, colored lanterns in their hands. In Korea, it is the time to honor ancestors, playing folk games like "samulnori" while eating traditional rice cakes "seongpyeon". But the most emblematic pastry is certainly the famous moon cake: a sweet and salty cake decorated with auspicious sinograms, often containing an egg yolk that reminds the moon once the cake is cut. It is said to be born in China under the Tang dynasty (618-901), made by a merchant and offered to the emperor to celebrate a victory on a full moon day!
