13 at the table ?

March 21, 2022 14:00

📣 Why not 13 at the table? Originally, this prohibition comes from the Last Supper where Jesus shares his last meal surrounded by his 12 apostles before being betrayed by Judas. Since then, the superstition has been anchored in popular belief: to be 13 at the table would mean that one of them will die within the year. In the symbolism of numbers in most Western countries, 13 brings bad luck and sometimes even causes triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13). From the condemnation of the Knights Templar on Friday, October 13, 1307 to the Apollo 13 mission, including the removal of this number from American elevators, this number is definitely displeasing. Yes, but not everywhere! In Italy it is a symbol of good luck and it is the 17 that brings bad luck. In the Hebrew world and among the Mayans, it is a sacred and auspicious number 🍀 And you, are you sensitive to this superstition? And you, do you ever have 13 guests at your table or do you stick to your dinner service for 12?
